DCA International

Product Design & Development Consultancy

What we do:

Founded in 1960, DCA is one of the world's leading product design and development consultancies, operating globally from its headquarters in Warwick, UK.

Over that time its teams have helped a wide variety of companies design and develop market leading products that are an essential part of people's everyday lives.

DCA works with clients to create products and services that work better. Products that with a bit of extra creativity are easier and more effective to use. Transport that is more elegant, people friendly, comfortable and safer too. Drug delivery systems that give correct doses effectively without bother or stress. And much more.

The results have been trains, aircraft seats, toothbrushes, cosmetics packaging, fuse boxes, children's buggies, fire extinguishers, medical products, trams, tools, laboratory equipment, telephones to list a few.

Why we do it:

The variety of projects, the multidisciplinary working environment, and the ability of its people are vital factors in making DCA an exciting company to be part of.

Every project requires a mix of skills. Mechanical engineers working alongside electronics engineers, software designers, 3D prototyping technicians. Marketing experts alongside packaging designers and chemists.

A teamwork environment promotes an atmosphere that fosters friendship and loyalties. These close-knit relationships motivate employees in parallel, helps us understand others and become mutually supportive.

And of course, together there is the sense of satisfaction, of fulfilment, in reaching a successful solution.

To see a product in the shops or a train on the tracks that you have helped develop, gives everyone involved a sense that they are contributing to society.

The People who do it:

DCA is a collection of over 140 extraordinary individuals. Intelligent, creative and thorough, it is people that make the difference to its projects.

To consistently deliver market-leading products, you need a world-class approach to engineering.

For DCA, this means employing the best engineers with a wealth of individual and collective experience.

All its engineers receive formal creative thinking training as part of their professional development. Natural flair and accumulated knowledge are channelled through innovation processes, whether informal creative sessions or during everyday team working.

Clients benefit not only from an individual's depth of knowledge and experience but also from a team whose combined strength exceeds the sum of its individual members' expertise.

New staff are encouraged to take on project responsibilities and to liaise directly with clients from the outset, supported and guided by more experienced team members.

DCA's offices are informal and relaxed, which belies an underlying passion for pushing boundaries to deliver innovative ideas.

In the Community:

As part of its ongoing programme to promote careers in design and engineering amongst the younger generations, DCA regularly presents to students at a variety of local schools.

The aim is to highlight the power of product design and development and how it can be used to impact people’s lives for the better.

According to the Design & Technology Association, the UK’s engineering, creative and manufacturing industries were worth over £500 billion. Yet we are facing a skills shortage in these industries in the coming years, with EngineeringUK predicting a 25,000 shortfall each year in HND/C and degree qualified engineers. DCA hopes to encourage future generations to pursue a career in design or engineering and help curb the shortfall we are facing.
