GKN Aerospace
What we do:
GKN Aerospace is a prominent player in the global aerospace industry, specializing in the design and manufacturing of advanced components and systems for commercial aviation, military, and space.
It has three main areas of focus. Firstly aero structures, where they create essential structural components like wings and fuselages that ensure aircraft integrity.
Secondly comes propulsion systems, developing engine components such as nacelles and exhaust systems to boost efficiency. And thirdly interior solutions to enhance passenger comfort and safety.
If you’ve ever flown anywhere, chances are you were sat amongst parts and systems designed and built by GKN teams. Your safe journey was made possible by GKN technology.
For People and Planet :
The natural world provides heat, light, food, shelter, air and water. It does everything for us. Protecting our one and only planet is our primary responsibility. It's not a nice-to-have or an add-on.
GKN Aerospace is therefore committed to playing its part in the protection of the environment, both in what they design and produce and the way they operate their facilities.
They are collaborating with Eviation on the development of an all-new electric aircraft. This is ground-breaking; it’s a step change in aviation
Focussed teams are also researching and testing new engine technologies and Biofuel, is already in use although still on a limited scale.
Hydrogen is another potential fuel for sustainable aviation, particularly for short- and medium-haul flights.
In their workshops and factories GKN teams are focussing on new manufacturing methods to create the same amount of products with less material, reduce energy consumption, emissions, water usage, and recycled waste.
Put together all many small changes make big things happen.
Why we do it:
People at GKN like to think their work is far more than a job. They see it as shaping the future of flight and connecting the world. Creating incredible technology that, in turn, makes the future of flight sustainable.
The People who do it:
GKN has facilities in 12 countries with a total workforce of more than 16,000 people. A team of all genders, orientations, abilities, races, and religions.
