At ZeroAvia, they are tackling this challenge head on by developing hydrogen and electric propulsion technologies to drastically reduce environmental harm and lower costs.

Hydrogen-electric engines are a superior propulsion system, offering lower fuel and maintenance cost, zero emissions and commercial ranges for air travel

Hydrogen fuel cell electric aircraft engines work by using hydrogen as a fuel source to generate electricity, which then powers electric motors that drive the aircraft's propellers or fans.

The only byproducts of hydrogen fuel cell systems are heat and water vapor, making them a clean and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional jet engines that burn fossil fuels.

Aviation is the fastest-growing source of greenhouse gas emissions.

Air travel contributes to climate change primarily through the emission of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), into the atmosphere.

The aviation industry is responsible for around 2-3% of global carbon dioxide emissions, and this percentage is expected to grow as air travel continues to increase.

Additionally, airplanes emit other pollutants at high altitudes, which can have a far greater warming effect than emissions released at ground level. 

For the future of our planet and people we have to find innovative solutions to these major challenges. 

Why we do it:

Unless every nation agrees on strong travel controls, which is politically impossible and retrograde, air travel is here to stay.

In answer to this global challenge Zero Avia’s Mission is to create an engineering solution to power a golden age of clean flight; for truly clean air travel using the world’s first zero-emission engines for commercial aircraft.
